1. General Information
The field of economics focuses on the efficient use of all resources to meet human needs, the enhancement of natural, financial, and human resources to improve societal welfare, and the distribution of goods and services produced based on these activities. It also involves education and research on economic issues at national and international levels. One of the applied fields of economics is the Department of Economics, where students are offered various courses not only in specialized fields such as economic theory, economic policy, economic history, economic development, international economics, statistics, and econometrics but also in mathematics, public finance, and taxation.
The Ph.D. Program in Economics aims to train economists who possess comprehensive knowledge in both theoretical and applied aspects of economics, can closely follow economic and social developments in Turkey and worldwide, interpret sectoral and national data to make forecasts, and meet the needs of society. Additionally, the program seeks to lead scientific research activities that will expand the research horizon of economic science.
Students enrolled in the Ph.D. Program in Economics are expected to master the tools, concepts, principles, and methods necessary for understanding economic science and analyzing economic phenomena. The goal is for them to graduate with strong analytical thinking, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills, as well as self-confidence, effective communication skills, and a disciplined work ethic. 5. Recognition of Former Education
The recognition of prior formal learning and horizontal transfers in Turkish doctoral education are carried out in accordance with the "Regulation on Graduate Education and Instruction" set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
6. Competency Requirements and Terms
The student must successfully complete all courses in the program and must not have any grades of FF, DZ, or YZ. In this program, the student is required to complete 240 ECTS credits and achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.
